Kia will be giving the all-new Optima sedan its world premiere on Apr 1 at the 2010 New York International Auto Show. The car, known as the Magentis in some markets, is longer, wider and lower than the outgoing model.

The coupe-like profile is certainly striking, though you'd probably be forgiven if you think some of the design elements and lines are familiar (think BMW, Saab, Lexus, Audi et al). Nonetheless, Peter Schreyer's magic continues to work on this one.

Fronted by a sharpish ‘tiger’ shaped nose, projector headlamps as well as LED running lights, the Optima is rather muscular looking form, with a high and pronounced shoulder line, boldly flared wheelarches and rakish roofline. The company adds that the spacious vehicle - with a driver-oriented cabin - will feature class-leading levels of safety and luxury equipment.
