Ferrari will officially debut its new 599 GTO at the upcoming Beijing Motor Show at the end of the month, though it will first be presenting the car in an exclusive preview for a small number of Ferrari clients on Apr 14 at the Military Academy in Modena.

The 599 GTO, based on the 599XX experimental track car, is a limited edition special, and the company is touting it as its fastest ever road car. It'll be reserved for 599 clients who seek the maximum expression of high-performance driving.

The car's 6.0l V12 engine is directly derived from the 599XX unit, with necessary modifications carried out for road-going homologation. Offering 670bhp at 8,250rpm and 620Nm of torque at 6,500rpm, the car takes 3.35secs to do the 0-100kmh sprint and has a top speed of 335kmh.

The block features a redesigned crankshaft, a racing-type intake system with a new manifold that has diffuser-type intake geometry and short inlet tracts designed to improve power delivery. The engine sound inside the car is carefully controlled to balance the intake sound with the exhaust, which features a 599XX-derived 6-into-1 manifold, and the car has the same 60ms shift times and multiple downshift ability of the 599XX.

Weight reduction has also been carried out in areas such as the second-generation carbon-ceramic brakes, transmission and exhaust system, and with the use of thinner gauge aluminium and glass, the result is a dry weight close to that of the 599XX, at 1,495kg.

Elsewhere, apart from new springs and a stiffer rear antiroll bar, the car features a second generation magnetorheological suspension control system (SCM2), which works in tandem with the VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) and latest-generation F1-Trac traction control.

As for the Racing manettino, the ICE position on the 599 GTB Fiorano has been replaced by CT-Off (traction control off), and the 599 GTO is now fitted with bespoke, longer carbon-fibre F1 paddles for easier use in high-speed driving, as well as the Virtual Race Engineer, a system that monitors the status of the car and gives the driver immediate visibility of vehicle performance.
